Yesterday I got invited for dinner at West Bay Inn. I am not going to talk about the person who invited me here, but I would like to talk of how great the atmosphere was here at West Bay Inn. For those who follow my journey knows that I really enjoy “local flavors”. On Kelleys Island everything is local, here you are not going to find a chain restaurants. The West Bay Inn is being run it by Mr. Bob; of course he likes to be called just Bob, and his wife Pat. Both not only do a great job, they also unconsciously transmit values such as: love, respect for other ones and dedication to their work. I don’t know how long they are together, but you can tell that they make a good team for life and business. Bob is the architect of designing their menu and Pat is the one that makes sure that the menu works first place for the customers in and for the business stand point. Bob is inspiration and Pat is reality. Since I am staying on Kelleys Island for the summer it is not my first time here at the West Bay. I ate here hamburgers with grilled onions, barbecue bites, the local fish: perch, etc. Today my choice is the “Special” which it’s a platter with some of the best that West Bay has to offer. The platter has: barbecue ribs, fried shrimp, fried perch, roll of bread, (that I need to find out what kind it is because test really good), two bites of clam and I am sure I am missing something because the plate was big. This kind of platter and a good cold beer, in this case is a Dortmunder Gold, Great Lakes Brewing Co, (Gold Medal, 2007 World Beer Championships), a local beer from Cleveland, and friends is the perfect way to finish my day. If you are 10 hours drive from this location, drive up to here and enjoy great sunset’s view with your friends, it is worth the drive. |
