If you are visiting Cedar Point on Sandusky don’t forget to add to you itinerary the islands on the Lake Erie.

            Today I am going to talk about Kelleys Island a day trip from Sandusky.

            The fastest way from Sandusky to Kelleys Island is the Jet-Express, they start running at 8:45 AM round trip is $24 for adult and kids $8.

From Sandusky you can buy the Island Hopping package where you can do Kelleys Island and Put in Bay on the same day. I would not recommend this even though it is sound like a deal, because at the end of the day you would feel that you run all day instead of having a wonderful relaxing day on the islands.

            Take a day trip to Kelleys Island and another day to Put in Bay.

  

After getting on Kelleys Island walk to downtown and get the latest information at the Welcome Center then decide how to tour the island. The best way to tour the Kelleys Island is by bike, but some time is to hot, so a golf cart is comfortable way and a lot of fun to do it.

Today is really hot but I am going to give the shoot for a bike tour on the island. My first stop after getting out of downtown is to take some picture of the architecture on the island. Taken Picture I made my way up to the Glacial Grooves.

           

            The Glacial Grooves on the north side of Kelleys Island are the easily accessible such grooves in the world.  It is 400 feet long, 35 feet wide and 10 feet deep is what remains today and is protected by the National Natural Landmark.

After the Glacial Grooves I went for a short swim in the lake. After that refreshing moment I hit the road to the west side of the island. Please take Titus Rd. it is a beautiful road to ride through.

            I drive by the quarry and I stop at the Kelleys Island Brewery to learn how the beer is made. Here through the beer testing I got a perch sandwich at local fish.  Great atmosphere and the view of the lake is breath taken.

Don’t forget to get a picture at Kellesy Island welcome sign located across the street from Kelleys Island Brewery.

            After that picture I was back on downtown ready to change my gear, now I am going to get a golf cart. But before I am going to get an espresso at Erie Island Coffee, located at the Caddy Shack Square

I check some of the stores such as the Flip Flop where I got my Dunas II flip flops, nice store.

            Next door of the coffee shop you also can get a massage or a section of acupuncture. I go for acupuncture all the time in Florida, the different here in Ohio you need a prescription from a Doctor. Pat Ahner, the acupuncturist, was saying to me that rule is going to change by September 2008. But today no acupuncture to me!

            Sorry I have to eat every hour, so now is going to be ice cream at Dipper Dan’s: chocolate and strawberry.

Now that I got the golf cart I am going to visit the other side of the island. At the east side of the island is the airport were you could have the chance to see some deer.  Also is the East Quarry that today I'm just going to take some pictures and walk in just for a little be. 

            Across the street is the North Pond reserve state park property where you can take really nice pictures of birds.

Dinner Time!

            Here on Kelleys Island we don’t have yet a really upscale restaurant, so for me I pick a place base on location, services and simple good food.

            Under that category we have many different restaurants here on Kelleys Island. My choice for today is Dockers, located at Portside Marina. The location of Dockers is great make me think that I am in Fort Lauderdale. Their food is not expensive and they offer pork, tuna, salads, and pasta. Today I am getting Fettuccine Alfredo.

 

8:30 PM I am running to get to West Bay Inn to watch the sunset with my friend Bob, he runs the show over there.

            My last stop it was the Beach Rack to get KI sticker for my friends.

            I had a great day today. My life some time is really hard. I have to do all those painful tour just for you, so when you come here or at any city that I am working on it you don’t waist your time and your money.
